Fitness and health have always been very important in my life, but it wasn't until I began working at a Fortune 500 company that they became my lifeline. My evening workouts and weekend meal prep were the only things that I looked forward to during my stressful work-week.
After a few years of climbing the corporate ladder, it was time for a change. I wanted to build a career doing something I loved that also added value to peoples' lives. I wanted to help them reach their goals, overcome challenges, and take ownership of their health. So I became a personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise and started my own business as a fitness and nutrition coach. Shortly thereafter, I began training at my cousin's CrossFit box, Summit Strength & CrossFit, in Indianapolis and that brings us to today!
My philosophy as a trainer is very simple: if you want to make lasting changes to your health, you must be consistent. I used to be the worst offender of this rule. I would work out so hard for a few months and wonder why I wasn't getting results. Then I would get frustrated and go back to restricting calories or banging out two hours of cardio every day. And guess what I never achieved? RESULTS!
Finally, with a lot of dedication, I began consistently hitting my macros on a daily basis. I fed my body with nutritious, whole foods and ate proper pre & post-workout meals. I started lifting heavier and more frequently. I ditched my goals of being stick thin and worked out to be the strongest and healthiest version of myself. And I have never had better results.
More importantly, my self-confidence is the strongest it has ever been. My goals aren't about the girl next to me in the gym anymore. They are about me and my progress and that is how it should be. And the same is true for you.
